As promised here is the latest visitor to the apple tree in the fence row. This is quite a dark coywolf. Larger than a regular coyote, Coywolves have been in our area for quite a few years now. Coyotes are very similar in DNA to their ancient relatives the red wolf. In Ontario, coyotes have interbred with the Eastern Grey wolves of Algonquin to produce this hybrid which is larger than the standard coyote. They have expanded their range from Algonquin into southern Ontario. These animals are very shy and rarely do you see one during the day. At night you might have the pleasure of hearing them howl off in the distance.
How many apples do you think he had?
