The Return of the Redpolls

A very unpredictable winter visitor, the Common Redpoll can overwhelm a feeder with their presence or be concerningly absent. Redpolls depend on waste grain in fields after harvest as well as back yard bird feeders. They are fearless of humans and are renowned as being able to endure colder temperatures than any other song bird. This winter we have a small flock of about a dozen birds, and they are a delight.
